Help! New BP has mites and is in shed.

We haven't dealt with mites before, and I didn't know if her being in shed changes how to deal with them?
We don't have provent-a-mite onhand, so can you guys give us other options on how to get rid of them? She is in QT.

Go to WalMart or a drug store and get a new spray bottle and either the NIX or RID lice treatment family pack cream rinse. It comes in 2 oz (59 ml) bottles. Mix a 2 oz bottle of the NIX/RID with 1 gallon of warm water and pour some into the spray bottle. Use it as you would the PAM - treat the enclosure, hides, and paper but not the water dish or the snake. Once everything is dry the snake can go back into the enclosure.

Repeat the treatment every 7-10 days for 6 weeks. Also keep a supply of treated and dried paper on hand so you can replace soiled paper quickly when your snake makes a mess.

You can also put the snake in a sink with about an inch of warm water with a few drops of dish soap. The soap helps to suffocate the mites and makes them come off easily. Once they are all off then rinse the snake of and towel dry them. We have done this with our boa and she doesn't seem to mind it.

This doesn't stop the eggs, that are in enclosure, and just a very minor solution to kill the ones bugging the snake.
