buying BP

hey, i found one pet shop in my city that sells ball python. this ball python is 2 years old:( and cost :
160.00 CYP
Cyprus Pounds = 337.909 USD United States Dollars

what do u recommend me? i know that is better to buy 4-9 months BP.
and say me some good thinks about BP to make my mom love coz she hate snakes:)

woah plz try to correct ur spelling cuz that was really hard to read. um as far as the snake goes well it depends on how u feel. if the snake is healthy and u like it's temperament and things like that and prefer it over a baby then go for it. besides 1 year and u could breed it. the price from what i can see is fairly decent if it is a female but if it is a male then u might want to try to cut that price down to 75% of that uless u are comfortable with that price. from what i can see that snake is a beauty and i would buy it if i were u :)

Ozone, don't worry. Your post is quite readable and understandable. As far as the BP goes, I'm of the mind that an older BP is better than no BP. :)
You might also look at buying one through the net or try to find a local or semi-local breeder.

I guess the market for BPs as pets over there is not quite what it is here, eh? Given the potential life expectancy 2 years old is not too bad at all. DO you know anything abot the BP? Is it wild caught or captive bred? An established feeder? Will it take frozen/thawed or pre-killed prey? If all those answers are positive and your available resources lacking you might have little other choice - I fear I am not well versed in the popularity of herps as pets abroad nor the frequency or location of reptiles shows you may be able to hook up with.

i wasn't trying to insult anyone i just couldn't understand the context of the post.(sorry that is what i meant not the spelling) anyway i agree maarken that having an older bp is better than no bp at all plus instead of waiting t have to raise a bp to sexual maturity u just gotta wait a year! buy a female het. and ur set(that is if u are even in to breeding :) ) if your not into breeding as much as u are into just having a pet than take maarkens advice and try looking over the net before purchasing that specific bp. u may not be able to order in cypress but their are net dealers that ship world wide :wink:

I purchased mine when he was 18 months old and had no issues. I'm very happy and would purchase an older one again.

you cant order from online? i know there are a some good reptile dealers out there.

I'd agree with you, but do to the fact that he isn't from the States.
He is going to have a hard time getting it shipped to him.

Personally, I"d prefer to raise hatchlings into adult-hood myself.
Also, the price is a bit much for even an adult, but on the other hand your in a different country.
