Explain like i'm 5: What is a malemaker/femalemaker and why do they exist??
I really can't understand how a certain snake can only make single-sex offspring. Is there an expert on the forum that could help me?
Thanks!

I can't answer why they exist, they just do. This phenomenon exists with Bananas/Coral Glows. Male Makers will make 90-95% males, and Female Makers will make 90-95% females. The non-bananas in the clutch will be the opposite sex. For example, I just hatched a clutch from a male maker banana and I hatched 5.0 bananas and 0.3 non-bananas. To simplify:
If the banana parent is a male the male banana hatchings will be "male makers"
If the banana parent is a female the male banana hatchings will be "female makers"
Female bananas seem to throw normal sex ratios.
I hope that's clear...

It just seems so curious! And it only happens with Banana/Coral Glow?

It is pretty interesting. So far it's the only known BP morph that works like this. I'm curious what the supers will do and what happens after a few generations.

Yea it's odd there are people trying to prove it wrong, But as of now, what Dave green said is right! not always a bad thing!!! Just make some powerhouse males with the banana!
