    Northern water snake
I want herping today and caught a few gravid females and released them they where all northern water snakes. This is the male I kept he was on a different part of the territory and looks nothing like the others. He just is in my tank in the garage I plan to bring him back but first wanted to get some help identifying what he is. This was in New Jersey at the manasquan reservoir. The local snakes there are copperhead , northern water snake, kingsnake and garter. So I feel he is a northern water snake but the white is throwing me off. Please help.

The pictures aren't duplicates they just where all taken one after another. Sorry for crummy photos just don't want to get musked again.

Just looks like a northern to me. Actually the scales looked a little spread/stretched and the girth almost looks like he's carrying a meal. Thanks for sharing.

There where plenty of dead fish around today so I'm assuming a lot of snakes had meals

They all had such attitudes not fleeing from me at all. They all today would come right up to me and check me out then I would grab them.
