Black Racer

I placed an old piece of tin roof along our dirt road/path we walk on in the evenings last summer/fall. So far I've only found a skink under there. Well Saturday evening we found this guy:

He took off before I could get more pictures. Last night (Monday) he was under the same piece of tin again, but I was ready. He/she kept trying to eat me, but I managed to get him secured with no blood letting thanks to a pair of gloves. I have him in a 40 gallon breeder for now. I'll see how he acclimates, if he calms a bit and eats FT for me I may hang on to him. If not I'll release him where I found him.

Nice find. I've always wanted to do a racer in a large bioactive planted viv. Hope everything goes well.

I miss seeing racers, I used to em regularly 20 years ago...haven't see a one in 10-12 years...looks a big one huh
