    Snake escapes from racks, anyone?
For the first time in my life, a snake got out! Issa, my 5ft ball python found a way out of her tub, which is in a C Serpent rack. I found her in the open trash can just hanging out... thank God I found her!

Anyone else have snakes escape from a rack?

I'm baffled. No one touches them except for me so I know no one else slid her tub open.

I used to poll every time someone had an escape as to whether or not their enclosure was DIY. I never had someone with an escape tell me it was a professionally made enclosure except one person who admitted that they think they left the tub open. This was after about 15 or more people polled. You'll be the first, assuming you didn't accidentally leave the tub a little cracked.

Seriously!? I can't be the first...that's just crazy lol. Issa is 5ft and 4,000g. She's a big girl, maybe she somehow figured out how to escape out of her 30q tub? I just put her into her old 50g tank with 4 locks to be safe. I had put her into my rack for breeding purposes but I don't think I'm going to do it again until I get the little locks installed on all my tubs.

I know I didn't leave it open, idk could just be a freak accident? Im pretty obsessed with making sure the tubs hit the back of the rack.

Mistakes happen, i see it 100% IMPOSSIBLE for a snake to escape a rack unless left open, i for one left my ARS open just 1inch last night work up and was like damn ill be looking for my Clown female... luckly she was too fat of eggs and lazy and stayed put all night or shed escape! Not like theyll arch on there back and wedge it forward from the roof!

A 30 qt tub sounds small for a 4000 gram girl. Maybe that was part of your problem? Luckily, we haven't had any escapes, but ours is a homemade melamine rack, and we use bins with latching lids.

Can say I've never had an escapee with in my racks. I use a combo of 16, 32, and 60 quart sterilite tubs that I've made myself.

    However I do use lids...

Well I know I didn't leave her cage open....as for her the tub being too small for her, yes it is but like I said I only used it while I put the male in with her. She's back in her huge tank being very active, she's not leaving it either!

My best guess is that she freakishly found a way to slid it open since she's so big. It can't be "impossible", it had to have happened to others Because it happened to me. If my juvenile corn snake could escape a tank with two tops (one that slid out, and one that lifted up) and bricks on top, then anything is possible :P

So for your second time you mean?

How exactly could the corn get out with all those obstacles?

I have never had an escape from my rack and my two sliding screen topped cages have kept their occupants inside without any double lids or bricks.
