another pet store story

yesterday we went shopping to the mall (i hour away) and i had to stop at petco to get some reptile carpet for Roxy, anyways i went over to the snakes and they had this beautiful boa ! it was about 2 feet long,and super nice so the guy came over and i asked if i could hold it and he took two out, one for me and one for him and i asked him if he has any snakes of his own and he said he has a burmese and i was like ohh thats cool how big is she/he and he was like oh she is about three feet long, and i was like ohh yeah i like those but they get to big and he said ohh not really she will prolly only grow to be about 7 or 8 feet long :shock: , and i was like, no burmese pythons can be up to 18 feet long he was just like no i dont think so. that made me mad :angered:


then we went to the mall and i went inside the pet store and was totally disgusted, they had 8 beardies cramped into a 20 gallon tank with no hides.They also had a bunch of boas in a tank with a UTH inside the tank and a light sticking inside the tank whitch they could easly touch if they just lifted there heads(no hides in there either) and then they had three horrible looking burms one of them hadd his head tilted up really high and the other was really dehydrated. and then they had a pretty jungle carpet python in like a 75 gal, the snake was like 5 feet long and it had no heat in the tank at all and barely any substrate and there was flies in the cage

i wont even say anything about the geckos,frogs,birds or rodents, it would make me to sad :cry: OH how i hate that store, petco isnt all that bad over here its actually the best pet store around here but the only thing i noticed over there was that the BP's tank the eco earth was really wet in some spots and some of them looked a little skinny

anybody know anything about pac man frogs, i saw one and it looked really cool.

(sorry about my big ole rant, i dont know exactly why i posted this,but im sure alot of people can relate to crappy petstores like that one)

yeah man i really hate bad pet stores. i have 2 pet stores blocks away from my house(about to get knocked out of buisness by the new and very responsible pet land at new mall :) ) the first one gets his crickets from the back yard of their store, they don't use substrate for any of their reptiles nor do they feed them properly because they only really care about their birds and chinchillas(and the chinchilla was in a cage the size of a ten gal tank man!!!!) but the birds have it made man handled every day they check homes for evaluation so atleast they are doing something right. i bought a red belleid adult newt from them that lived it last 4 years with me.

the other store only owns 2 kinds of reptiles but the way they keep one is horrible!!! they keep 18 baby iguanas in a 10 gal tank with no substrate and thet throw one ice berg lettuce leaf in a day(one was so sick i stole it and let my cousin nurse it bvack to health) i hate when some one harms an iggy just for the simmple fact that i had one from when i was 7 till i was 12. i had to give him away just because i had no room in my house. man i can't wait till the pet stores go out of buisness because of that excellent pet land. they have the besty set ups for all thier reptiles,rodents and birds, man the frogs are even kept in these huuuge tanks in the back room. it is like another store man!!!! sorry for the long post just feel ur anger at horrible pet stores!!!

wow thats to bout about those poor iguanas, i would have stolen it too, lol.I really wish they had a nice,clean,friendly pet store somewhere around here.Oh well, im outta this hell hole in about 2 years so i guess i will just put up with it, im really not buying anything from either of them anymore since i found a snake breeder who sells me mice and rats for my snakes, so i really have no reason to go into them but still, it would be nice to have a good one.

That sux, I despise those bad pet stores. I really wish I could just put them all out of business. Worst I could do was call the vetter business bureau on one local shop that sux the worst out of all the lot.

I know a lot about Pacman frogs. I had Benny for over a year or two now, and she's a really cool frog. Here are a few pics...
her setup is a simple ten gallon tank with eco earth and a water dish. These frogs do bury themselves for weeks at a time, so just make sure you know that before you buy one!

Sadly, I'm sure that each of us could easily find a pet-store with bad husbandry.
Thats why its best to buy from a breeder.
On the brigther side of news, I LOVE Ginevine's pacman frog.

i heard those frogs are very aggressive , are they, or can you tame them ?? do you feed it mice ??

one pet store down baby! i went to treamont at 4:00 pm today and the pet store with the bs setup for their iggys didn't have the iggys anymore. they handed em over to a breeder in pennsylvania. i asked em why? they said they are giving away all their animals because they are clo9sing down in a week! i was happy but pissed i couldn't get a free iggy but then they told me they are giving the animals to that new amazing petland at the new mall! i was happy. now their animals will be well cared for.

now here is the bad news1 the other pet store had 2 dead chinchillas this morning on their counter5 and the other chinchilla was moving so slow. when i walked in and hada disgusted look on my face they quickly told me if i wasn't buyingf anything then get out. i was pissed so i did something bad. very bad! i took one of the guys bike from in front of the store and my 20 year old theif of a friend was around the corner and took it from me saying "i don't want you to get in trouble" i laughed as the guy walked out the store going crazy and cursing in spanish lol. i know mean but i did get the bike back 20 minutes later. i wasn't going to until he was gonna call the police. anyway in a way today i won and loss but in the end it alll worked out.

Doubt it.
Petland is a chain, and often times I've seen their dog care as well as herp care be very iffy. They'll probably just get sold faster, so they're in bad conditions for less time.

And I'm sorry, but stealing their bike? That's really immature, and a good way to guarantee that you'll never be allowed in that store again if caught, and may face charges/fines if apprehended by the police. Would that really be worth it if all you wanted to do was "get back" at the owners?
