hair dye
Hi,
I'm trying to find a good brown hair dye, i really love the mahogany henna hair dye but my boyfriend hates it's smell and since he spends his time with his face in my hair he has a good argument. So if any of you know a good hair dye that acts and looks the same as henna with a nice flowery scent, or no scent at all, I'd really appreciate knowing. I'd like if it was cheap and easy to find, like at a CVS, because I'm not going to search for a high-end salon for any expensive brand dyes.
Thanks!

Re: hair dye
Garnier Nutrisse has a good permanent dye and the smell is not bad. For semi permanent, I would go with Herbal Essence. Both have colors very similar to what you are looking for. Both are under $10 and you can find them at places like CVS or even Wal Mart.

Re: hair dye
Sorry I can't help. I am a hair "snob". I've done my own, and swore I would never do it again. It doesn't feel the same as the professional coloring. It feels like straw to me, it opens up your hair and makes it so rough. The processing is so harsh. When my hair dresser colors my hair, it still feels nice and soft. I only let her do anything with my hair. :/ i also have very long and curly hair. Which may or may not make a difference.

Can't help you much with dyeing darker colors, because I've always bleached my hair. I go to the salon now, but I used to use Nice 'n' Easy when I colored my hair a honey blonde and Loreal Feria extra bleach blonde (my profile picture was actually from the days of using Loreal Feria). While those obviously left my hair smelling bleached right after/the next day or so, I would suggest trying a nice scented shampoo to get the smell out. You don't even need to get expensive: I use V05 Strawberries and Creme shampoo/conditioner which are $0.99 each and smells like deliciousness. If you don't mind shelling out $30+ for shampoo/conditioner though, I would definitely recommend something like Paul Mitchell products. I know the Platinum Blonde shampoo/conditioner smells AMAZING.

Re: hair dye
If we are talking product, I love Sebastian stuff. Their drench shampoo and conditioner. As well as their "whipped" hair creme. They all smell fabulous, as well as make your hair feel that way.

luckily for me that isn't a problem, I'm blessed with hair that stays silky and strong even if it's been bleached several times over. so don't worry too much about that.

Re: hair dye
Loreal in general is good stuff, Loreal Paris is probably my favorite auburn brown because of the very natural color and it seemed like it was the gentlest on my hair. All the products I've tried have smelled like chemicals to some degree, but the different products smell like different chemicals. Is it something like the ammonia or something your bf doesn't like? If I had the same problem and loved my dye, I would just look for a stronger smelling shampoo. The kinds with some herb scents mixed in could mask whatever bothers him.
Hope this helps!
