    Pre-shed pink belly.
My ball python (he's 6 months) is over due a shed, he's been in the dull & pink belly tinge stage now for around 11 days. His last shed was over 10 weeks ago (with previous owner) but came off clean. Is it normal for it to take this long ? He has grew quite a fair bit in the past 6 weeks I've had him. His enclosure is heated by under tank heat mat with thermostat, cool side usually around 78 and warm side around 87. Humidity is around a steady 54/55.

Sorry no pictures as I'm clueless on how to attach via phone.

Increase your humidity, you can place moist spaghum moss under his favorite hide to help increase humidity and spray enclosure daily with water. BP need higher humidity during shed.

I plan on increasing the humidity once his eyes start changing, as who knows how long that will take. What I'm concerned about is the pink stage is going on 11 days with no change in the eyes as yet. So far this is the longest I've heard of it taking ( although might not even be that uncommon ), but I appreciate you taking to time to comment about the humidity as not every owner may not know this.

Could it possibly be scale rot/slight burn

The pink belly usually only lasts 2-3 days then they go all grey? 11 days that's quit awhile

Initially my first though was a burn, but cool side, warm side, warm hide and glass are all monitored by probed thermometers
and controlled by thermostat for both my royals, I like to be careful. Better safe than sorry though, so that eliminated the burn.

literally just got him out to check if anything resembles scale rot and what do you know? He's going blue! Do we set a new record here ? Lol. Will still monitor for scale rot after shed but it did seem like pre shed pink tinge. I am one happy snake mumma! Thanks.
