lighting for python terrarium

I am in the process of building a 4x2x2 terrarium for my sons python. Im looking for advice on how to set up the lighting. I was going to center a 2 foot strip light in the back with a black light for night time. I was also going to mount two heat lamps, one on each side each hooked up to a dimmer to better control heat. Im not sure if this is overkill. Any ideas or modification suggestions?

Need more information, species for a start! The amount of lighting and the type will depend on this. Also, are you planning on using just the lighting to maintain the heat? And keep in mind that a dimmer will only work in a constant environment. Thermostats can help you do this much better and tighter, but need the proper type of heating. In many cases, I'd suggest using an LED light strip for lighting, and acquire a radiant heat panel for your ambient / basking heat. But again, species will make a difference. Let us know what you're working with! And what type of material you're using to make the cage.

The inner LED, blue light is an Arcadia Moon Light, purchased from Light Your Reptiles.

It's waterproof and very compact.

The strip LED light for viewing is an 18" Home Depot LED. I would not use a 2 foot light in a 4 foot cage. It's too much light and I personally think subtle low light is more attractive. You can still illuminate the entire cage for cleaning.

As Cody stated, a RHP tied in with a thermostat would be best for your ambient temps.

Obviously, type of snake, and year round reptile room temps will help for giving more info.
