Help with spot on bp - Scale Rot?
I am starting to become concerned about my bp. I noticed last Saturday that he had a small red spot on his belly. I was told by some people on a different page, at that time. that it was probably just bad spot from him shedding, despite the fact that he had shed almost 3 weeks before that and the spot was just a couple days old at most. I cleaned his cage the very next day and kept it spotless since then. Well, now, a week later, his spot is no longer red, but is an orange color and it seems like it may have gotten bigger as well. Valdr is in a 10 gal tank, with mesh top. My hot side is at 91 from a UTH that is on a thermostat; the cool side is at 78 in the coldest corner. I also have a CHE in the middle on top of my tank because the tank is in my bedroom which is in the basement; without it the cool side is at 70. I use repti-carpet for the substrate; I like being able to spot clean poop right away and I thoroughly bleach and air dry them. I have a hide on the cool side, one on the hot side, water bowl in the middle and a humid hide on the hot side because it helps keep humidity up; the humidity is usually at about 37-40%. I have blankets around 2 sides(the hot side and back) and up to the lamp on top of the hot side to keep in heat and humidity. Valdr was hatched in the middle of January, I got him in the middle of March and this is so far my only problem with him. I offer food every week; he fasted for 3 weeks, pooped and at a hopper mouse 2 days later(5-15-14). I can't think of any more information to add.
What do you guys think? Is it scale rot? Any advice for me?

Re: Help with spot on bp - Scale Rot?
It does look like a small spot of rot.
I wouldn't panic though - just make sure the humidity is right but the snake isn't sitting in waste. I prefer an absorbent substrate rather than repti carpet for this reason.
Keep an eye on it and it should disappear with a shed.
