Bedding

I am using aspen bedding, because I like the way that it looks and its cheap, anyway. I have to spray my two tanks down two or three times a day because of the low humidity. Around 45% - 50%. When I spray then it goes up to 75% and then slowly goes back to 50%. My question is Is that ok? I change the bedding once every two weeks or so, also if they are in a shed I keep the humidity high so I change it right after they shed. Even if I had just changed it the day before. So I change bedding to keep the humidity higher? I already keep towels over the screen tops of my tanks, which my g/f hates. What else. I tanks are a 20 long for a 2.5 foot bp and a 15 long for a 1.5 foot bp so there is no room for a humidity hide.

to keep humidity up on the screen tops, we went to home depot and got plexiglass, and had it cut to size. humidity stays around 60, even when bedding is dry. no fear of belly rot from too moist bedding, but the air remains very humid.. may also be my area. only cost 1.50$ for each cage.

I sorta did the same thing. I just got a roll of that adhesive material people line cupboards and stuff with(I can't remember the name of it..), cut it to size, and put it on the top of my screen. I cut a hole big enough for my heat lamp and ventilation. Since then, my humidity has stayed at around 60%, never going below 55. And I've stopped using my heat lamp since then too. It has plenty of ventilation, and temps stay fine without it. So that helps my humidity as well. And it can't be my area, cuz I'm in Canada. That cold dry place. ;)

you mean contact paper????

Yep yep - ConTac paper - we use it extensively as needed (in the decreasing number of screen-topped enclosures) - really easy to slice a couple of the corners off to allow for air exchange - as you defintely don't want a sealed environment.
