Moss

What kind of moss should I be using in my tank?

I'll qualify that. I am trying to raise the humidity in the tank, but I am also attempting to build a canopy. Is there a specific kind of moss I should be using, or conversely, is there a specific kind of moss I should be avoiding?

Sphagnum moss is the most popular moss that you can use to up the humidity in your enclosure. That's really the only moss I've heard anyone use. I never have to use it so I'm not sure if there are any you should avoid. Besides like moss you find on the ground outside.

Do you know if that can be re-moistened or is it one use and out?

I think you can wet the moss over & over again as long as the moss doesn't get peed or pooped on by the snake then it's good to stay in there. I'll post some links to some sphagnum moss for you

Id suggest using Eco-Earth coconut, its Cheap easy to spot clean and is very bacteria resistant! for 1 snake a 10$ block will last months.

No problem. :) you can also google sphagnum moss for reptiles and it will pull up even more links. You may even find one better at a cheaper price. But it will definitely help with humidity.

question for the veterans;

I have often wondered about the moss for BPs as i have always used either un-printed newspaper or eco earth......... couldn't the moss increase chances of scale rot being it is generally damper then other substrates???
I would like to know either way but think the op could use the added knowledge of weather or not its something to keep an eye on. I do know a lot of froggers like that moss because of its ability to hold water without being a danger if ingested (i.e. dart forgs) but then the frogs like a lot more humidity as well.
