    Incubator Question
I will be breeding my balls in the future when the time is right. I am thinking about building my incubator and was looking at different ways to build it. I saw 2 ways like. One an old mini fridge and the other just a tub. With the tub they say use water on the bottom to create humidity and the fridge style I didn't see any water in the bottom. Question is if I use hatchrite will that alone be enough humidity until they hatch if I am using an old fridge? Any help would be great!

    Thanks,
    Alan

The water bottles aren't for humidity, they help the temps to recover quickly when you open the incubator up. So you'll want water bottles in either one. The humidty should come from your substrate medium that you're using in the egg tub. There are a number of sticky threads on the forum that are great references with both incubators and tub set ups. They are really helpful. Best of luck to you.

How do I find these sticky threads?

Sticky threads always appear on top of the thread board... Instructables.com has a great ball python incubator build. Eggs aren't that hard to hatch, I've used shredded newspaper, coconut fibre, and hatchrite, all with 100% hatch rate.

ok so once I make my tub with water at the bottom for heat and use a smaller container for the eggs with my substrate do you need to ever rehydrate the substrate or will there be enough moisture in it to last the incubation period?
