is burning incense ok?

I have a lot of different kids, mostly wood like sandel wood, rose wood, etc. Would burning these sticks harm my BP at all? I'd be burning them in the same room with my BP.

I burn incense and candle all the time, have been for a long time around my herps, it dont seem to give them problems. I just would not put it directly around them where the smoke from it could get in thier homes.

Or the resins to settle in the cage - I'd say as long as the room has adequate ventilation you're fine - but if you notice a buildup of resin from any kind of smoke (esp heavy smokers) on surfaces of pictures, spines of books etc etc I'd consider moving him to somewhere less prone to it.

I was sorta thinking about asking a similar question. Only it was about air fresheners like Febreze. My room is a bit stuffy, and I wanted to freshen it up with a few sprays of Febreze. Just wondering if that would affect my bp. My room has it's window open and a fan going all the time, so there's nice ventilation.

I use febreze; it does say on the bottle that it's safe for mammalian pets, but nothing about herps. I just spray it on the couch and chairs in the living room, not the room that the snakes are in. But it really does not travel around in the air much, so I think that as long as you dont spray it directly into their cages, it should not harm anything.

I was wondering the same thing about the incense. I still would be uber cautious about buring anything from the cedar family, because those checmicals can be carried through the smoke. Most commercially made incense have the main ingrediants listed, if not, I would look for a higher quality one that does (or just make your own). One other thing to be aware of is the base that is used for the incense. Many incenses use a bamboo base, some though use cheeper woods such as pine, cedar, etc.... usally in the form of sawdust, so be careful :wink:

Wow I can't believe that many other people worried about the same thing. I have been wondering that for a while. So, is it ok???

I smoke, and when I would smoke in my room I'd keep a damp towel over the mesh tops of the girls' cages and just open up a window. I no longer smoke in my room since I've moved, but I never seemed to have a problem so long as it was ventilated well in the room.

I burn insense too but never near the enclosure. I am sure that the smoke would never travel into the enclosure since smoke rises.
