How do your BPs react to dogs/dog scent?

Just wanted to hear about how everyone else's bps react to dogs and/or the scent of dogs, or other animals in general.

Took my adult normal male over to a friend's house yesterday and I think he got a little overwhelmed and stressed out by the intense "dog smell" (and dogs too). I made a noob mistake and put a hand out to push his dog away (she had run inside the house to greet me) and that's when I got tagged. My normal's always been on the bitey side but doesn't get too stressed out by the smell of dogs at my place, though sometimes he'll tense up when there's a dog towel or dog bed or maybe a dog near him.


Do you guys have similar reactions from your snakes to dogs/dog smell (or other animals)? Any ideas on the best possible method I can use to get him more used to dog smells so he doesn't feel as threatened and get as stressed?

I think taking him to the friends house is what stressed him out.
My cats are always "helping" me clean cages and I don't think the snakes are affected by them or their scent at all

The only bad reaction I've ever gotten from snake in regards to a dog was when my pit got a bit close when I was checking on my big girl mi ing a clutch. He got bit on the nose and doesn't go near her anymore

None of my reptiles have noticed my dog, with the exception of my bearded dragon. I don't allow the other two dogs near my reptiles because the one will want to eat them and the other is so nervous about everything, I'm afraid she'll force a reaction. My ball python can be crawling around on the floor as my dog walks in and no reaction. But my dog also let my dragon jump on him and didn't do a thing. Maybe it's something to do with the personality of the dog? But personally, I've yet to see a reaction.

The smell of my dog does nothing to any of my snakes.

Once my pine snake got spooked and went crazy when my dog walked too quickly past it though. He didn't calm down for hours.

IMO just taking him to the friends house is what stressed him out. That probaby put him on edge and your hand movement then caused the reaction to bite. Not the dog smell.

I've had my dog lick some of my snakes... I have been afraid of her getting tagged when she shoves her snout in the cage when I open it, but that hasn't happened. They usually don't react at all to her, only startled if she comes out of nowhere near their face. I'd say it was the stress of transporting your normal that did it.

Worst bite I've had to date came as a result of me petting my dachshund, and then handling a snake. (By the way, neither of the two aforementioned actions are metaphores, for those of you who may be snickering.) My daughter handed me a large female to hold while she was cleaning her space. I had her in one hand and my other was about 6" in front of her face. She nailed me hard enough that it bruised and I pulled three teeth out of my hand a few days later when they started coming to the surface. I think the scent of the dog, coupled with the heat signature of my hand, made it the perfect target. Now I always wash my hands before I handle the snakes just to be safe.

No reaction here....but my little dog is a little too interested...
