    WD40 and snakes?
I've got a terribly squeaky door to the snake room. In general, I only use products that I know won't harm snakes' respiratory systems. WD40 is strong smelling so I assume it is a horrible choice for the door. Does anyone have any suggestions on something else that I can use to remove the squeak that is less nasty?

Vegetable oil; olive, canola, avocado, peanut. Any vegetable oil will work.

how much do you plan on using? Just put a small dab on top of the pin and move the door back and forth, letting the oil creep down. It shouldn't be over whelming. After the squeaking stops you can take a paper towel and clean up the outside of the hinge. Your snakes will be fine. I wouldn't use anything plant based for lube, seems like to me it would either break down quickly and/or mold.
