Anyone like to breed Double rex.
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/03/egy2ahum.jpg I started off breeding strictly food but a funny thing happened I started enjoying the rats as much as the snakes, and a new hobby took off now I have four racks and a bunch of pretty rats that I have to feed off if I cant sell them as pets. I think its time to cull out and refocus my breeding and build a c02 tub.

I feel like the only one that actually prefers standard coat to rex. Although I like having them because it keeps me from holding too many babies back. I find it cute but I prefer the smooth coat and dumbo ears. The rats are certainly fun to breed. I like breeding for certain colors. I just purchased a burmese dumbo female. A friend is picking her up for me and I can't wait till she's here.

I have some Siamese at least that is what I call them. And many different short coated dumbos as well I like the blues. I have a line I call bulldogs with heavy builds and great personalities.

I don't care for double rex or hairless. I love rex and standard coats. I'm currently breeding a litter of double rexes though.. Only because the pet store I work at couldn't get "hairless" rats in for a customer, so I said I could breed some. After that I'm done with rats. They make great pets, but I can't stand the way they smell.

Don't you have mice as pets? I can't do the urine they produce. Two days of mice vs two weeks of rats and I'd take the rats.

I do. I breed mice as pets and feeders. I never smell my mice as long as they get cleaned once every 1 and 1/2 weeks... I smell the rats at all times. Even after they were just cleaned. It gives me a headache and makes my eyes burn, but I'm highly sensitive to smells.

I prefer standard coats over Rex too. On top of that I prefer standard ears over dumbo.

And I can't stand mouse smell either. I tried keeping a couple female mice because they were cute, but I couldn't stand how bad they smelled.

I breed double rex, but I don't really hold any back. Although, I did just produce one that looks really funny. I might just have to keep her because she looks so strange. LOL

I like standard coats. But I appreciate a really nice rex.

Unfortunately rex seems to come out really poorly on females. I've had some fantastic male rexes, however.

And yes. I can't stand mice. They reek!!
I can smell their nasty odor within an hour of cleaning. And a day's worth of mouse bedding is way worse than 5 days of dirty rat bedding in my opinion.
