    Need help on housing
I have been breeding my rodents and have now moved them to my shed.

What is the best way to not only keep it well ventilated but keeping the temperature stable? I live where winters can dip far below 0 degrees F and in the summer can reach 100. Obvious answers include window air conditioner and heater. I have that covered. What is the best way to keep it ventilated at the same time? Vents, fans sucking air out? Any input will help.

Besides the stated here is a list that helps in our rat house.

Fans both ceiling and oscillating to get good air movement

Keep the bedding clean and dry.

I put 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 1 gallon of water its helps with the smell.(we do the same with our rabbit)

I installed an attic fan that I wired to a light switch and bypassed the automatic temperature control, this allows me to turn it on as I need it.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Are you saying you do not use any form of heating or cooling other than the fans? It can get well over 100F where I am in the summer and even with an attic fan and other fans I would have to think it would still be too hot.

Anyone have any pictures of their facilities or buildings that include ventilation and heating and cooling?

No we use both heaters and a/c's, but you already listed those so I didn't list them again. We deal more with heat than extreme cold temperatures where I'm at in Texas.

I keep both my reptiles and rats in my shed. The shed is very well insulated with a drop down insulated ceiling and ridge venting. I heat it with an electric baseboard heater and cool it with a window air conditioner and box fan. As long as I keep the air moving and the bedding clean, I have had no issues. When I clean in the summer at night I leave the door open, but thats the extent of the ventilation. Everybody does fine.

If you have an air conditioner you should be fine.

I would take care to look out for moisture build up. The AC unit will pull a lot of moisture out, but I might still get a dehumidifier and install some exhaust fans.

If you can keep the temperature under 80 and you can keep the humidity low you should never have a problem.
