    humidity is too high..??
    hello, all.

i recently cleaned my bp's tank last night and switched from aspen to kritter's crumble. now, my humidity is very high.

    it's a 20 gal and my acu-rite thermo/hygrometer reads 94F hot, 78F cool, and 87% humidity.

there is no condensation, i have a UTH on the hot side, and a heat red lamp 75 watt in the middle above the water bowl. i also currently have the top wrapped like in this tutorital: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...tment-Tutorial

do you guys think this is something i should be very worried about? if so, what can i do to lower the humidity? :(

    thanks in advance, everyone

I wouldn't worry. My humidity always spikes after I clean the vives. Just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't persist for too long; but with a heat lamp and in a glass tank I am surprised you're not having the opposite problem.

I would try to level out those temps just a tad though - on another note. 94F sounds a little high to me... perhaps you can drop it down about 3 or 4 degrees F.

    All the best!

thanks! when i had aspen my humidity was between 58-61. it's because of the giant water bowl under and the foil wrap on top :)

i forgot to note that the probe is on top of the glass, covers by 2 layers of paper towels, and with the substrate on top. but yes, i will lower the temps a little. thanks again!!

if the humidity stays crazy high, what do you suggest that i do?

    No problem! :)
Well, 80% is good for shedding and 50-70% is typical for any other time. I'd just remove a little of the foil covering the top, but I really think it will dry out more by a week's time.

    Cheers!
