This is the third oak snake I've come across in the yard today. He was looking on the slender side so I helped him score a couple meals before releasing. Holding him within striking range of a tree frog was all that was needed. Little squirt would get so excited that after a miss he'd immediately go after a finger - he even tagged himself a couple times. We got 2 lumps in him then back from whence he came.
I realize some folks aren't into live feedings but since I was merely giving this guy a little boost that's what he got. He was an eager enough feeder, I just helped him get there a few times. None of the tree frogs were restrained, the ones that jumped away - often peeing on the snake's face in the process - live to leap another day. It took roughly 12 attempts for this snake to snag the 2 that were actually eaten.
Those who aren't interested in seeing a live frog getting swallowed, now is the time to leave. Sorry for the crummy quality, it was getting late in the day and my phone is bad.
