Heating problems, HELP PLEASE !

Hello,
i've had my ball P for 1 1/2 years and use a small container for water, a hiding spot, aspen bedding, a climbing stick, a thermometer a hydrometer all in a small rubber made tub its not crowded though. anyway I have a thermostat attatched to a heating pad and heat safe tape is taping in on the bottom it stays about 88-92 F degrees, my problem is is that the air temp. is only 77 F when it should be 85 F my question is how to get it to 85 F?! Hi,

Heat pads don't really increase ambient air temps.

You could possibly try an incandescent lamp on a dimmer switch to boost them slightly as long as you guarded it safely.

Raise the ambient temp in the room

what if I had a rack systam how would I heat that?

I can't because hes a pet in my room and I can't stand hot temps at night!!

You are talking about air temp but what is the floor temp on the warm side?

Post a couple of photos of your setup so we can get a better idea what you're working with.

Also, 85 is too hight for ambient temps. They should be around 78-82.

Agreed. 85F is bit too warm. Even 77F doesn't sound terrible... so long as that's as low as it gets at night too. What is your room temperature at in your home? That would be the easiest solution to me; to warm up your home's temperature - even by one or 2 degrees F.

I'm having just about the exact problem as the OP. My quarantine tub's ambient temps are too low at night (even thought the substrate temps are spot-on due to 2 UTHs on thermostats). I am considering breaking quarantine and moving the tub into my herp room that stays a few degrees warmer due to the heat lamps on the other tanks. (I know this isn't ideal, but like the OP I can't raise the room temp) or moving the tub to a location that I can use a heat lamp over.

To the OP: You might be able to use a heat lamp on a stand..I am doing this on the large tub my boa is in. You will need either a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) or a red heat bulb for the lamp.
