I'm taking your advice... But I still have questions.

Many of you suggested waiting and doing more research before I begin breeding, which I have decided to do. So, thank you guys for that. :).

Now, while I am waiting, I still would like to get a general idea of what you believe to be best. I have been looking up incubators for when the time finally comes so I know what I'll be looking at. I came across the Hova-Bator Thermal Air incubator. Have any of you used this? If you did, what is your opinion of it?

I would love to build my own but I won't have my handy dandy husband around next breeding season, so I would rather buy one to use until he's home and can assist me when I get stuck. I'm not the "building things" type.

Like I said, I'm definitely waiting... But I still want to be as informed as possible on as much as possible.

I have never used a Hova-bator, but I have known people who have used it successfully for gecko and corn snake eggs. IMO, it is too small for ball python eggs. I'd want something around 24 x 24 x 12 inches for them.

If you're planning on having more than 1 or 2 clutches you'll likely need to make your own. You can use a cooler, and a heat pad with a thermostat. You don't really need to "build"

I should only be having one clutch next season. Ahaha.

I read that heat tape is the best to use but I lack the hand strength to do the rivets. Yay early onset arthritis. Ahaha. Would I be able to get heat tape already assembled?

I used a hard shell cooler (like you would take camping or out for a picnic) and I put a piece of heat tape on the bottom. Then I layered the bottom with water bottles, put a shelf on the bottom (I used a piece of egg crate), then in go the eggs. Depending on where you get your heat tape, you can get it pre-wired. I know Reptile Basics will pre-wire it for you if you make a comment for them to do so (just on your order comments or give them a call after you've ordered). It's really simple. I'm not very handy and mine worked well for me.
