    Odd scales on BP's head
I received Pugsley as a rescue off Craigslist, when I got him he was underweight and in a really bad stuck shed. He's been eating well and I got the shed off except for a few little pieces on his head. He's very head shy, and I figured with a humid hide they would come off alright on their own. They came off, but he has this odd pockmark on his head? I showed my mom, who said it looked like a sore, and that her red tail had developed something like it and ended up needing surgery to fix it. It hasn't gotten worse or better in the last few weeks, which leads me to believe its a scar, but I has hoping for some opinions!

It might be a rubbing scar. Just keep an eye on it, if it gets larger or changes for the worse, get him to a vet.

    He's a beautiful snake,by the way!

That'd be an odd mark for a scar, but I have no clue what else it could be. I don't think it's a rubbing scar because of the location. I'd keep a close eye on his behavior, see if it changes or he acts odd, if he does, or it changes shape or something I'd go to the vet.

It looks like an old rubbing scar. It should get better with every shed. A few of my guys get them during breeding season, then a few sheds it goes away. Make sure he is happy with his hides, has water, plenty to eat, and clean and it should go away. Ball pythons are good like that.:)

Thanks! It hasn't really changed since I got him, for better or worse, so hopefully it's nothing major. He's about ready to shed, so we'll see if it improves at all!

I'm pretty sure I'm repeating but just in case. Iv seen that before just keep an eye on it, it shouldn't get worse try misting that area more than usual and keep humidity up it will allow it to heal faster with every shed it will go away little by little. Gorgeous snake best of luck

Pugsley is in blue for the first time since I got him, so we'll be able to see if a shed improves the mark a little bit!

Pugsley shed while I was work today! All in one piece too, I'm so proud. Then he pooped in it. So proud.

It's hard to see in these pics, but the mark on his head looks like it's healing. The edges have started to move in, like healing skin on the edge of a scab.

Pugsley's odd scar/pock mark is healing up great! It's nearly half the size it was when I rescued him in February. The improvement in his general condition and temperment has been amazing!
