Will be a new suggie owner this weekend or next weekend. :D I am so excited! I have been buying everything I need for the past few weeks including toy making supplies and fabric to sew all these cage sets lol AHHHH Chris is excited too...this is his girlfriend. Saw this post, just had to reply.

Do you have any tips for bonding in the first few weeks?

The best way to start is to get a small tent and sit in there with them. That way they can run around but can't get away. They will explore the tent and you. It builds confidence and obviously strengthens the bond. It is also a lot of fun. They love treats so bring some with you. Mine love fruit loops. I have 2. They are just awesome pets. My recommendation would be to wear long sleeves while you are in the tent and bring some wet wipes or paper towels. Being young, they might decide to poo or pee whil they are in there with you.

i agree with whats been said. i have two as well, and just got a "bonding" tent a few weeks ago. I make my own bonding pouches, toys, and cage sets. I gotine as adults tho, so were still working on bonding. I think younger ones bond faster. ;-) . I love my flyin fuzzies....they are some of the kewlest pets ive had.

I have two, one I adopted a year or so ago and the other I've only for about a month. My older one, Clarke, is the sweetest thing in the world lol my baby one is still really skittish and makes the barking noise when I try to hold him, but once he is in my pocket, he's cool as a cucumber.

Honestly the best thing you need with sugar gliders is PATIENCE.

i agree with Trackstrong. Every glider is different, and bonds at a different pace. PATIENCE is key, as sometimes i have to muster up more than i want to lol.

What 4theSNAKElady forgets to say we have 3 her 2 and my single girl. we want to make them a trio but no luck so far. With all the reading we are doing the best thing once they home is to give them a couple days to get use to the new cage( home) first then start handling and wearing the bonding pouch with them in it. I had my girl just over a month, I take her every were when I can. I did have to leave her home for 2 days last week with Crystal cause I might had to put my truck in the shop and if I had to I been walking with like 3 bags till my ride showed up. but she going the next trip and will be sleeping in the basement with me at grandmothers house.

My wife actually has some picture up of the 3 we have.. in another post.

I just picked up 4 last night that someone was forced to give up due to moving and joining the arm forces. I will have pictures of them in a couple days once I let them settle down some..
