Chain stores that sell Mazuri Rat feed??
I am curious if anyone knows any chain stores that either sell or can order the Mazuri rat food. Every feed store that I have called says they can only order llama and small pig mazuri food for some reason. The rat block at petsmart is like $8 for a 2 lb bag so that's out of the question. I'm in west Texas if that helps as far as location for the stores. Also, the 25 lb bag on the Mazuri site looks like it has a significantly greater amount of crude protein (23% instead of 16% and other add ins). It is more expensive than the 6f but if it is all that I can find, is it just as good as the 6f for my small colony? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

No chain stores really carry it your best bet is finding a feed store that can order it for you.

Your local feed store so long they are a Purina dealer will be able to order it for you.

Feed store can order or a lot of reptile/exotic pet stores carry or can order it. Mazuri is a Purina Mills product so pretty much any mom and pop pet shop that sells those products can get it for you. Places like Petco and Petsmart don't like to special order but the small ones don't mind.

Where in west Texas are you? I would think Walter's in Lubbock would have it.

I actually asked Walter's what they feed their rats today when I went to buy some feeders and they referred me to a place that had it! Thanks for all the pointers!

Tractor Supply Co is a chain store that carries it...or can if they want to, this is up to the store manager if they wish to order it or not. Mine didn't used to, but after having a polite and friendly conversation with the store manager here, I managed to talk him into keeping it. Now they usually have about 6-10 bags on hand at all times, I buy 2-3 bags a week and they've apparently picked up a couple other buyers also. They also have a price match policy so if you can find it cheaper than their own pricing, they'll match it. According to their pricing list, it's supposed to sell for 31.99 for a 50# bag but there's a feed store that prices it to me at 26$ a bag so that's what TSC price matches to.
