I just recently built a 45 gallon terrarium and its pretty bare. I was wondering what kind of plants i could put in it so my Golden Gecko will be fine. Hes pretty skiddish and i think he needs more hiding places. Thanks for your help. ps.. http://bk.servebeer.com/~fonzy/index.html has pics of my cage in the making :D

Check the ASPCA site -- if you scroll down you'll see links to both their toxic plants list and non-toxic plants list. With most reptiles, you don't have to worry about those that are only toxic if ingested. You do need to worry about those that are toxic on contact, including those with toxic sap as the gecko will occasionally break off branches or leaves.

Also, despite any controversy over Melissa Kaplan, her site has an excellent resource on plants specifically for reptile keepers.

I think it looks like you built it with pine and should seal it to protect your gecko from harmful phenol fumes. Other than that, it looks great!

Very good! You did your homework on that ahead of time, I see. :) I'd love to see more pics when you finish setting it up and get your gecko in it. Also, how much did your materials cost, if you don't mind my asking?

I would say about 30 dollars with all the wood. I had to buy 1x4 pieces and rip them down to 1x2s to mach the poplar. The plexiglass was the most expensive. I will post pics soon.

wow i'm impressed! that's an awesome looking cage. i definitely want to see some pics of it when you have it all set up too. you saved a ton of money by building that yourself, and it looks very professtional. i'm feeling a little jealous! :P
