    Nice job! If you don't want to use newspaper, go for paper towels. That's what I use in my quarantine rubbermaid...we don't get the paper.

    yes it is the new setup. why would I want to put substrate if plastic is easier to clean up? I just dont want him to go underneith.

    To be honest.....I've often wondered the same thing. :) I went ahead and used paper towels myself. One reason I could think of is that when they go to the bathroom (especially urinate) that you'd want the substrate to soak up everything rather than it running everywhere and getting on everything - as they do expel liquid as well.

    much easier to replace a wet paper towel or piece of newspaper than to have to take everything out and clean it because it all got wet. you don't want your little guy slithering around in his own puddle and trailing it around everywhere either. trust me, these little guys can leave quite and puddle--it's more like a lake. :)
