    Hey,

As some of you may know, I have had trouble with my 3y/o male not eating since I got him in January. He hasnt eaten a single meal and actually seems nervous of the f/t rat that I offer him. He has lost 100g in a 3 month period and is down to 966g. His spine is now quite prominant.

    What do you guys think?

Have you tried live just for the sake of him eating? Could be a seasonal hunger strike that he can bounce back from.

Orrrrr could be a symptom of something a little more serious..

I'd say it's just a hunger strike. Mine hasn't eaten since January either, though he's not even a year old. I'd say yours appears to be a tiny bit skinnier than mine, just larger in size. But so far I wouldn't be too concerned. That's simply what happens when they don't eat for a few months. I'm hoping mine eats later tonight.

I'm going to also suggest that its on the usual hunger strike this time of year but will hopefully get out of it soon. Did you by chance ask the breeder/seller when it last ate and what he/she fed it? It may have been on a hunger strike before you got it. Just a thought. As for prominent spine, I wouldn't worry. It is a bit thin but not dangerously thin. Oh, and lastly, have you tried leaving the F/T in the enclosure? Your BP might eat it when no one is looking. Good luck.

I hope it is just the seasonal hunger strike!

When I got him the owners gave me a list of his feedings, size of meal, if it was taken and such. He was eating perfectly before coming to mine. My husbandry seems to be okay, perfect temps and gradient, 2 hides, water bowl and such.

I always leave the f/t rat in the enclosure if he doesn't go for it. I have tried to cover the front of the glass panels with towels so it is dark in there and he isn't nervous of people being around or what not.

    Cheers for the help.
