Terrible news regarding our new arrival female yearling chacoan
After a long anticipation for our new arrival, she unfortunately didn't survive the journey to her new home.

I'm not sure what happened, but once we opened the box and brought her out of her bag she was deceased. She was still very warm but I'm thinking she may have suffocated. I feel awful for her and what she must have endured during shipping. :(:tears:

    Everyone is quite upset.

What was suppose to be a very happy day turned into a somber one. :-(

It was a reputable breeder. Although I had problems with customer service initially, we seemed to work that out prior to shipping and all seemed well.

It's just a truly unfortunate incident. I'm hoping for another tegu but I'm leery of having one shipped to us. I wouldn't want the same outcome to another little gal.

Oh no! I'm so sorry. I remember you had some customer service issues and were hoping it would all be worth it when you got your new girl. I'm so sorry it turned out like this :( I would like to know what they are doing to remedy the situation too.

I am so sorry you are going through this.
Sounds like a terrible experience. Sounds like overheating?

I highly recommend you take photo and video documentation of the animal as evidence.

I am really sorry it's always unfortunate when loosing an animal, sounds to me from your description that she overheated, animal being shipped should not be very warm, heat packs are meant to prevent the shipping box from getting cold, but are not supposed to make it a hot box.

If shipped properly with a heat pack designed to ship reptiles and not a hand warmer, it may have malfunctioned and the chances of this happening again would be slim.
