Thinking about a crested

I am pondering the idea of getting a crested gecko. Just have some questions hopefully someone can answer. Do I have to mist down the cage or can I provide a humid hide, kind of a similar setup for a leopard gecko? Has anybody kept crested geckos in a rack? Seen a lot of glass cages and sterilite tubs just stacked on each other which brings me to me last question I have read multiple caresheets from different forums and all say something a little different. Do crested geckos need heat? Some say around 70 some say you don't need heat depending on where you live and one said some where between 80 - 85 but another forum said that it can stress them out that high. Some clarification would be nice and appreciated. Any advice and further information or links to great websites are all appreciated. Thank you.

You will need to mist about once or twice a day, not only this will provide proper humidity but they will also drink from that mist.

They can be kept in rack or tubs so long those are high enough, arboreal racks are what you would be looking for, a few manufacturer will build a rack for you based on your specs and ideal tub.

Ideal temps for cresties are temps that are comfortable for you you do not want anything below 68 and nothing over 80 (high eat stress cresties and further more can lead to death), ideally you want to keep them in the mid 70's

I do not use racks but I use tubs

This all depends on the substrate you use. Obviously paper towels wont hold up well against water. But other types of substrate will absorb it and do a good job at holding in your humidity.

These can be changed once every 2-4 weeks I would say.

When it's dirty. In tubs I found it easier to use paper towel, it holds humidity and allows for fast cleaning. I also prefer it for breeder females, this guarantee that the females will lay their eggs in the egg box and not anywhere they want in the substrate.

Now in a natural terrarium I would use a bioactive substrate composed of coconut husk - pointing soil and sand, you can stir it weekly and replace it every several month.

What size tube do you use for a single adult Crested? In the pictures you posted of your setup what did you use as a perch?

For perch I use a simple pool noodle that I cut to the proper size, they are made of foam so easy to clean.
