nose rubbing

ok, so i fed nellie tonight, the biggest mouse she's had so far but she did pretty well with it, even though it required a little bit of mousey dance first. but now she is being a total weirdo. she usually goes straight into her warm hide and doesn't come out for a while after she eats. not tonight. she is roaming the cage and even went into her humid hide for the first time ever (its tupperware so i can see her in there). the strange thing though is that she is incessantly rubbing her nose on everything. she doesn't need to shed or anything--she just shed about 2 weeks ago. i can't see anything that might be bothering her--no random mouse hair stuck in a heat pit, no cuts or scrapes, nothing. i wouldn't worry about it so much except that she doesn't seem to be able to concentrate on anything except rubbing her nose like crazy. and as you can see i'm having a bit of a late night over this... :( any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Hmm...strange indeed. Only thing that came to my mind is maybe she got a cut or scrape on her nose or mouth while swallowing the mousey and it's irritating so she's rubbing her nose on stuff. But even that probably doesn't make much sense since you said there are no visible cuts or scrapes. I dunno. Hope everything goes well. :(

Edit: I was just looking for some bp feeding videos(preparing for my first feed tonight, lol), and randomly stumbled across a forum with a person asking why their snake was rubbing their nose on the ground and stuff. Here's a quote from a reply:

I hope your wittle bp was just re-aligning the jaw or had an itchy nose. The mites and mouth rot thing would just suck. :cry: I guess the jaw over-extended thing might make sense since you said you fed her the biggest mouse yet.

Sixx does that on occasion after eating....i think he is trying to get his jaw back in place....he will do that and later on continue yawning.

I'm with rding - seen it quite a few times after eating - funny how some of them have real specific things they will do almost regularly after eating - like hopping in the water dish, hanging out on top of a hide or yes rub rub rubbin - Sesha will do that rub thing for up to 15 minutes after she downs a rat - then just go curl up in her warm hide.

Monty Joe does this after every feeding some times more than others but have noticed he does it more after a larger prey item.

hm interesting. well that's most likely all it is then. it was a pretty big mouse for her. i've just never seen her do that before--even when she was trying to start her shed she wasn't this intense about it. thanks for the input guys! :)

Wow, neat. I didn't know about the jaw alignment thing. :)

yeah, she had me pretty freaked out for a while there. i was like, why can't she talk! then she could just TELL me what's wrong! :D but now it's all making sense.

That makes sense now why Vash would "yawn" after taking meals. She let out a huge yawn after I fed her her last f/t hammie, and I looked in her mouth and saw blood! I freaked out until I realized that the hammie had had blood on its head, and it was probably just a little mouth dribble from her dinner. :)
