Can snakes see black lights?

Can they see Black Lights (aka UV light)? I was just going to use it to watch Sphinx at night.

Can snakes see black lights? The black lights which makes things glow is what im refering too. I just want to use it to watch him at night, not for heat. Can the see black lights (aka UV lights)?

Not to sure about black lights but I know they can't see infra red light and it's great for night veiwing.

Supposedly not but who knows for sure maybe the sky isn't really blue or CAT really spells Dog. :blahblah:

did you mean to post this same question in 4 different sections? it's the same for all snakes and pretty much all other reptiles as far as i know. they either can't see it at all or else it doesn't affect their nocturnal behavior because it is similar moonlight.

oh yeah man. i bought an infared light the other day and i lights up my room red. i love to watch him crawl around and explore. it doesn't really bother my sleep...but everyone is different.

I use a blacklight(exoterra nightglo) that I turn on at night(both to keep my temps up at night, and for viewing) and my snakey doesn't seem to mind. It's supposed to simulate natural moon light. She sleeps during the day and is up at night anyway, so it's not like it's gonna bother her sleep. It barely lights up the cage though. Only lights it up enough to see her chilling on her branch. The other side of the tank is still left dark. For this reason, I think I'm gonna find an infrared bulb when I have the extra money(they cost like 12 bucks a bulb here. :(). Anyway, I'm sure they can see it, because tonight Pelota was on her branch, and I was checking on her with a small flashlight. Then I wanted to watch her for a bit so I put on the blacklight, and she looked up at the light when it came on. The previous night she was checking out the light too. Maybe she was admiring the beautiful "full moon". ;)

Using black lights for viewing is fine and will not disturb your snake's photo cycle. Just make sure you're using bulbs with colored glass rather than a coating that can burn off over time.

The reason for posting it 4 times is because it could of been something important that needs to be answered. Just think, if it could hurt my snake, then would you rather only have it posted once or twice? You would want it to be posted more times, so then you have more of a chance to get it answered faster. Do you see what im trying to say?
I didnt think it would hurt him, but then theres always a chance.
