respiratory infection?

My male mojave has what appears to be mucus in his mouth but his vents look dry and clear. Can this still be RI? He does open and close his mouth like he is trying to clear it. He does drink but has been off food for about a month.

Also I would check for several other signs like mucus smeared around the enclosure or in the water bowl, the snake sitting with its head elevated and its mouth open or noticeable clicks or wheezes. :)

Also where it is in the shed cycle.

I did clean Some being from his mouth with the mucus. He she'd about two weeks ago

Is he yawning and holding his head up trying to get air into his lungs? I would suggest going to the vet but we have never had any luck with meds prescribed by them and it was way too expensive to get a culture done for the 13 snakes we had sick (yeah haf an outbreak at the beginning of owning snakes). Cultures are need so the vet knows what meds to prescribe. We have had the best luck with a medicine from TSC called liquamycin. I in no way suggest you use it, i am only stating what we do. Go to a vet.

He was a yawner anyway. Haven't caught him holding his head up. We do not have a reptile vet in our area.if I were to go against your recommendation and go to TSC how do you determine dosage for a snake.

you dont always need to do cultures if the vet is going to prescribe two different antibiotics anyways. The vet I dealt with did exactly that after a chest/lung xray and after consulting with another rep vet decided to prescribe 2 drugs to make sure everything got knocked out so there was no issue of resistances being built up.

Go to a vet indeed.
