    My BP yawning?.
We have had Slithers for a little over a month he just came out of this first shed.. And now when we hold him he seems to Yawn..( opening his mouth periodically ).and quite frequently ... He is a new snake and it is a new behavior just wondering if anyone witnesses this before... However he seems to love being held for the simple fact that he doesn't try to get away and he pretty much just holds onto our hands..just making sure it's his behavior and nothing medical..

My first Normal male used to do the same thing. Never had an RI or any other issues. Just liked to yawn every now and then.

Funny thing is it was my 10-year-old daughters idea to get the snake..( I had them as a kid and teenager so I did mind).. However when I take her fishing she won't bait the hook... When she brought up the idea I told her if she would hold a snake we could get a snake and here we are..

Shayna does it sometimes too. The other day she fell asleep in my arms. I moved and woke her up some 20 minutes later and she had a big old yawn.

    Super cute.

She is healthy as can be but she still yawns sometimes. I think it is pretty normal. Balls seems to do it more than other snakes.

Back when my daughter went off to school and left the Ball with me- I did the dumbest rookie move feeding live- yup, got tagged.

So came time to clean the cage. As I was reaching in to pick him up, he started yawning like crazy.

Freaked me out! Now was this a yawn? Or was he just warming up to tag me again?

My brain knew it was yawning. But the Scardy Cat in me figured he had other plans! :snake:

When he does it look for bubbles in his mouth, strings of mucus, etc. It can be one sign of RI... or it can be just a habit.

Good point BCR! I know that now. That experience happened a few years ago when I inherited my buddy :)
