So I didn't realize just how much he would like to burrow...
So I picked up the Dumeril's Boa yesterday that I've been asking questions about. Needless to say, he appears to be super healthy, has a wonderful temperament, and is gorgeous! This morning, however, he gave me a huge heart attack. I'm keeping him in a tub that I've put a good 4ish inches of substrate in (Aspen and Cypress Mulch) because I was told that they like to burrow, rather than have hides. I peeked in to check on him and didn't see him at all. I almost had a heart attack. I thought he'd somehow managed to get out of the tub and gotten loose in the room (or the house). Right before I completely panicked? Spotted his head BARELY poking through the substrate. I mean BARELY. I could see the tip of his nose, and when I rubbed it, he brought the rest of his head out. OMG I've never thought I'd lost a snake before. It was funny once I figured out where he was. =]
Just thought I'd share that somewhat entertaining story. Now that I know he does that, I look for him completely buried in the substrate. I think it's adorable! =D And he seems perfectly content to burrow in and watch me through his tub all day (every time I look at him I catch him watching me). :snake: Silly snake!

My bci burrows more then he hides or purches. Its fun looking in the tank and trying to find him burried in the repti bark
