    Scale issue
Ok...not a big deal at the moment...but I just noticed 3-5 small little dark spots on the leading edge of a few underbelly scales...they look slightly discolored and have a crispy appearance compared to the other smooth and shiny scales....husbandry and temps and humidity are all within normal ranges...so far only noticed on my lesser male...just wondering if this could be the start of scale rot...and what causes scale rot?

All my snakes are kept on cypress that is completely changed out once every 4-6 weeks with spot cleaning done weekly.

Scale rot is almost always caused by them laying on moist substrate for too long. Sounds like you probably have a very minor case. Put him on paper substrate (newsprint, kraft paper, or paper towels) for a shed or two. You should see it clear up. You can also swab the area with a Betadine solution as a disinfectant. I would avoid any petroleum based creams, lotions, or magic potions. They all just soften the scales over time.
