Egg question....

I've only had 2 clutches of my own. A buddy of mine recently bought a group of BP's from someone. Well, he called me freaking out. He has 8 eggs! I told him to pull them & put them in his incubator. Well, a few hours later he tells me his incubator is fluctuating temps from 88-82. So, I told him to bring the eggs to me. I got them the day after they where laid. Well, I've had them for 3 days now and I checked on them and noticed a horrible smell. They all look fine. But, I pulled them and smelled them. There are 2 that STINK! Should I pull them? Put them in another container to incubate? I'm just looking for advice....thank you in advance.

Ok, I just candled the eggs. All but one have veins. The one that doesn't is the one that stinks. But, it has red spot on the bottom like a yolk. That I can see when candled. I'm open to all advice. I'm thinking about pulling the foul smelling egg and disposing of it.

I would place the questionable egg in a separate tub. I have one egg from a 7 egg clutch that does not candle well, but it appears fine. After 3 weeks in the incubator if there are no veins it will be disposed of. Generally at 3 weeks from my experience you can see the babies moving inside the egg when you candle them.

If it truly stinks it is bad. I would also put it into a separate container with the lid on tight. Leave it for a week then open the bin and sniff. If it knocks you over dispose of egg.

Another thing you can try with the questionable eggs is to feel them when you go in to look at the eggs. If the bottoms of the egg are firm, it means the yolks have hardened and the egg is bad. If the egg is still really squishy on the bottom, the egg is fine. That's how I knew some of my eggs last season were bad.

Thanks everyone....the egg was so foul tonight and had black bugs on it. They looked like nats. It was the only one with odor & bugs. So, I disposed of it.
