    When to remove press n seal
    Like the title says...

    When do you guys remove the press n seal from your egg boxes? In on over the stickies I saw someone say they remove on day 45...

    I would say you should start burping the tubs (exchange air and then re-seal) around that time but I personally do not remove until 55ish if there hasn't been a pip yet. Eggs can dry out, but I haven't heard of complications from keeping the humidity too high as long as they aren't getting dripped on.

    do the eggs need oxygen? there is some metabolism going on, so i would expect the eggs to take in some oxygen and to pass some CO2, using the air bubble at the top, but i honestly dont know if the quantity is meaningful.

    Press-n-seal is not even necessary if your substrate mixture is right and your incubator has a good seal. Don't have a problem in 6qt Sterlite tubs with just standard non-locking lids. Plenty of humidity in my tubs without any press-n-seal. Inspect weekly and then every day after day ~45 or so.

    Clutch #1 this season so far....

    Today is day 43 in the bator. Two eggs are deflating alot the last 2 days the other two are starting to deflate. There is condensation on the front side like the above pics...

    The "deflating" is natural near the end of incubation.

    These pipped on their own at day 52 last season. Most all the eggs were "deflated'.
