    Rat color ID question
For once, I actually have a rat question! LOL

Ok. I concentrate on Mink and Russian Blues.
However, this past litter was the first time these have popped up.

Sire is a Russian Blue Self Dumbo Rex.

Here is the Dam. I *think* she's a Blue Beige.

Here is half of the litter in question. I threw in a Russian Blue and Mink in there for comparison.

    This is what I think
The first row: Russian Blue (for reference) and champagne(has red eyes)
The second row: Blue Beige, Blue Beige, Mink (for reference), Blue Beige, champagne (has red eyes)

    Thoughts?

I'll need to take a look on a actual computer screen to be sure, but I'm not seeing blue beige. I'm thinking you could have dove in there, maybe silver.

I honestly can't tell. I was trying to match them to Google pictures.

But the Google pics aren't exactly quality or uniform.

I'll take another look tomorrow and see if I can tell anything more on a computer. They do look different, and its throwing me off a little! The ones you are calling champagne almost look like they could be Russian blue siamese, but don't have the shading I'm used to seeing. The off color of the dam and babies reminds me of the "chocolate doves" (rb and chocolate, instead of rb and mink) I produced, but that's unlikely depending on where your rats trace their ancestry back to.

The doe looks Russian Dove (Russian Blue + Mink), I have asked another established breeder who agrees. Which leaves a problem, you produced an obvious Mink (American Mink by the looks of it) in a litter to another Russian Blue. Impossible. Russian Blue x Russian Dove = All Russian Based. Is it possible she was paired with another male? Do you have pictures of the sire?

Blue Beige or Russian Beige is generally RED + Russian or American Blue. Their eyes are ruby with a very pale/creamy coat. Think about the regular Beiges, only add a slight Blue influence. Also, Champagne is PED and since PED is less common that RED in the US, I'm thinking these guys are likely RED, but it's impossible to tell. I'd have to see more of the lighter eyed babies to be sure. Champagne is Black based PED though and I'm pretty sure these guys are mostly Russian based.

Left to right - I see a Russian Blue (the Rex) and a possible Russian Buff/Beige (probably Russian based, likely a true Russian Beige) in the first row. Second row, Russian Dove, Russian Dove, American Mink, Russian Dove, Beige or Russian Beige (some sort of RED).

Chocolate is extremely rare in the US, only a small handful of pet breeders have hold of them. Most won't release them either. It's very unlikely they are Chocolate based Doves. They look far more like my UK based Russian Doves anyway. When combined with other dilutes, UK Mink acts similar as Chocolate, not quite as nice, but still dilutes less than American Mink.

    Thank you so much.

I only have one male. I'll upload a pic, next time I get to my camera.
But he had a mink parent, so that would mean he carries the mink gene right?

Also, that mink pup probably belongs to a different mother. I have another female(mink) in the same tub who had a litter the same day as this girl. I only selected the pups I wasn't sure about for the photo. I just threw in the mink and russian blue pup as a reference and comparison.
