    Need advice on heat lamps
I think the air temp on my cool side is too low , 74, but my bp seems to like it, he spends most of the day in his warm hide which is 85 inside and the surrounding area is 80 but does come out to regulate on the cool side and just lounges around. I feel the overall tank temp needs to come to 80 and I'm considering a overhead heat lamp. Any suggestions on what wattage will bring it up 6 or 7 degrees? Or a better alternative?

I have a 50 watt and it brings it up from 74 to 84.
So maybe if you could find one a little less.

Optimal temp on the warm side is closer to 90 degrees. 80 degrees would be an optimal cool side temp, though some BPs do seem to like it a few degrees cooler on the cool side. Due to the importance of being able to heat up in order to aid in digestion, I would try to keep the warm side as close to 90 degrees as possible.

I agree with slim. I havent used a tank in a long time but I suggest using a 75 watt heat bulb then moving up to a 100 watt if it doesnt get warm enough. Keep a close eye on temps though because you dont want it too hot.
