Spirit Serpents' 2014 breeding season finally begins!
I was worried that I wasn't going to have ANY eggs this year, and I ended up missing out on ovulation for 3 of my gals because the males weren't interested, of all things.

But Dier and Eugene and Notlee and Torandre came through for me and now I can expect at least 2 clutches this year. Plus my lovely lovely Thera appears to be getting ready to double clutch. But for now, pictures of the critters who have made me very very happy. Sorry they aren't 'in the act', but I don't like to disturb them.

Eugene and Torandre- Eugene is huge. Tor is just shy of 4 feet long. Eugene is at least 5'6". They are both gentle as gentle can be, so I'm hoping for some extremely docile babies from this pairing.

Dier (in blue) and Notlee- This female is scary. Her food drive is scary and she thinks EVERYTHING is food. She tried to eat one of my other adults last year. So I stuffed her silly and put her in with Dier and checked on them constantly. She is definitely consenting to breed and I'm hoping she'll pass on her wonky pattern to her offspring at least a little bit. I expect the amel babies from these 2 to be brightly colored and hopefully more mellow than momma. Dier is one of my most laid-back snakes, so maybe he'll temper the 'Eat ALL the things!" attitude Notlee has.

Very cool! Good luck with them and it sounds like you made some good pairings! I wish I had more time to focus on corns. They are great snakes.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately I missed out on my Moonstone Motley as neither the amel motley het lavender nor the Wraith the hypo-charcoal-lavender were interested. My black pewter and hypo aztec also missed out. Very sad as those were more interesting to me in general. But Eugene and Tor will hopefully let me restart my Sweet Corn project.
