North Florida breeders/sellers?
Hi, everyone! First off, this is my first post on this site, so please forgive me if it's in the wrong board. ^^;
I'm looking into purchasing my first snake, and was wondering if anyone can point me towards reputable breeders/sellers around north Florida. I live in Tallahassee, and ideally would like to visit a facility / handle a potential purchase / take him/her home myself.
Right now I'm just in the research phase of this decision, so if I do purchase a snake, it won't be for another few weeks. I've always loved the BPs my friends had, and now that I'm in a position to have my own, I want to do things right.
So yeah -- is there anyone in this area I could purchase from?
Thanks for any help! :)
Re: North Florida breeders/sellers?
Hi there! My name is Marissa! My boyfriend and I breed ball pythons here in Tallahassee. We will be having clutches hatching out starting in April, but don't have anything available now.
I don't think you will find someone willing to let you in to their facility. There is too much of a risk as far as someone trying to steal an animal or brining in mites, etc. Personally, we don't let people come over to see our collection for that very reason. When someone is looking to purchase a snake we will meet them at a public location (usually in the corner of a parking lot somewhere) and bring the snake or snakes that they were deciding between so they can choose.
If you ever have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I'm more than willing to help people out!

The only other person in the area I would recommend is Susan Sentman at SSnakes, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't let other people come out to her facility either....

Thank you so much for your replies, everyone!
I hadn't thought of the security issue from the seller's POV, but that does make sense now that I do. A snake would be easier to squirrel away than a puppy or a horse. ^^;
In that case, anyone willing to meet within about a 2-hr radius of Tallahassee would work just as well. I just feel like I should meet the snake before buying it. Is that unnecessary? (I'm not interested in breeding at all, so this animal would be primarily a pet, and wouldn't need to be any super-cool morph by any means. I just want us to get along, haha!)
