    Female and male locking times?
Hello , This is my first season breeding so i have a noob question.

How many times SHOULD a female ball python lock a month?

People say 3 days on 3 days off. is that for male and female? or just male?

    Example:
Put male with female day 1. 2 hours later i saw a lock up for about 13 hours.
    I separated them.
    gave them 3 day break.
fed the female, male refused to eat... 3 days later i put him back with her. and another lock up...

But ive been hearing that the male can be switched through different female tubs every 3 days..

My question is: Can a female handle 3 day breaks then another lock up? Is it dangerous for her? or is it just useless because she hasnt had time to even process the sperm?
Say i have 3 males, can i put 1 on day 1. another male on day 6, and another on day 11? or is that too much stress for her?

    Thank you
    Sam

In my experience females only need to breed once a month.

I normally go with once per shed anymore to be honest. Started out doing it a lot more but realized that did nothing but tire them out. If you are running your males to a bunch of girls make sure they are getting a break between females.

This season (my first) ive been doing my 800g male on a 3 day ON 4-5 day OFF cycle and up until a week ago he has been eating for 2-3months into breeding. He is currently sitting at 1050g and holding that weight. He has bred with 3 girls several times but soon I will toss him in with another 2.

A male needs a full week to regain his full potency unread somewhere. That's what I do, in till lock, than a week out. As others said they only need to be bred once or so a month, but if it's a male's first season I'd breed him once every 7 days.

I believe the females go once a month for 3 months cause follicles after the 1st lock in the 1st month the folls grow then 2nd month when folls are bigger u want to put her again with male so theres more chance of the eggs getting fertile and 3rd month when follicles are at there best u pair again so u have the best chance at getting all eggs fertile .. I believe this is how it goes im sure if im wrong someone will correct me .. im doing my 1st breeding this season as well and still nothing for me .. but im learning I think lol

This gives me hope on my 1 lock female who is HUGE building right now. This morning when I left my male was doing the 'side mount' thing where he isn't quite under her. I am praying that he gets lined up today - pressure is right for it. This is a huge improvement for him since he has been locking with her neck, side, water bowl, and just about anything BUT her tail over the last month or two.

It is timing and follicle growth. 12mm or bb size, 24mm or ping pong size, 32mm or chicken egg size, and 40mm or snake egg size. Hopefully that's all it'll take. Check bhbs vid. Very hefpful
