Cardboard as tub insulation?

Hello folks,

I've got my boa's tub setup and am running a UTH on the warm end and have a heat lamp (che) on the cool side to up the ambient temps. The room the tub is in is a little cool due to it being winter at the moment and my ambient is running about 77 on the cool side. I was wondering if I could use something, like cardboard, etc. outside the tub on the back and sides to help insulate and bring the ambient temps up.

If anyone has experience insulating a tub with anything (cardboard or otherwise) I'd appreciate your input.

Almost any insulator would work. Cardboard might be a little thin though - try a blanket folded up, wrapped, and bungied in place, or pieces of styrofoam cut from a beer cooler or rodent shipment cooler. Just keep an eye on the temps to make sure it's not running too hot - this time of year we get some pretty drastic warm/cool temperature swings.

Thanks! I'll try taping some towels to the back /sides to see if that has any effects. The tub should be great in the spring / fall / summer, but my apartment is a little cool during winter months. Hopefully when I get a dedicated herp room this won't be a problem.
