    varied feeding
So, I've decided I would like to my ball python chicks seeing as they're cheaper and from what I've read the only significant nutritional difference that could possibly be a problem is the higher water percentage and the less developed bones(slightly less calcium), however, I'm planning on only feeding them every other feeding. She'll only eat every other week, her choice not mine, so she'll eat a rat wait two weeks, eat a chick, wait two weeks, eat another rat, wait two weeks, eat another chick, and so on. Does this sound alright to you? I can't really see any problems coming out of this other than slightly runny poops.

I don't think I'd be able to either. I guess I would if I had to though. Like if I had a snake who would only eat live and the chick is to deformed to live I guess I would, but I really wouldn't want to feed a live chick if I had another choice.

As long as your snake is ok with switching between prey types, I don't see any catastrophic issues waiting in the wings.

EDIT: I see a lot of post referring to the high cost of rats. Don't want to hi-jack this thread, but I am curious how much rats cost in your area? Here I can get small rats for .98 cents. Can't imagine I could feed much cheaper than that.

They're cheaper but still nutritionally complete enough.

$6 a piece for rats but chicks are only $1 a piece for the baby roos.

Its perfectly fine to feed a varied diet.
Although chicks have always been more expensive than rats in my experience.

If my BPs weren't so stubborn on their rats, I would love to feed them a varied diet.

Well I don't breed my own rats and I can get baby roos for cheap, $1 as opposed to $6 for a small rat($4 each if I buy 5+), so for me it's cheaper to feed chicks but I still want to feed rats just incase there's something else in them that chicks don't have.
