I just found this today (the article's been around a while) and if you never found it, it's time you gave this a read too! I find that the author just may be right- the reason behind the Lacey Act listing of the snakes just may be for more funding, which the government is, as usual, useless at being productive with!
Wasting our taxpayer dollars AND outlawing our pets- this is entirely unacceptable! :rage:

Nice to know I'm not the only one who thought out didn't make sense. Personally, I think the law just should have been that you can't import , but can still export, those snake species into Florida. I'd have no problem with that and, they're probably to stupid to realize this but, it would actually help their problem seeing as the can't survive anywhere else in the U.S. and this would have gotten them out of Florida without any more getting in instead of just trapping them where none can come or go. This law is total bull.

I'll bet they actually know that, but said otherwise anyway just to have the snakes banned so they can get their $$$funding$$$.

It's all polotics. Most legislation like this has no real reason. Lobbyists with the most money pay to have laws passed that meet their interests.

People like PETA, HSUS and other animal groups have a massive amount of money and pay the politicians to have these laws passed to fit their agenda. It's all about money and getting their way.

If the reptile community offered the kinda cash to the politicians that these groups do, we would never have to worry about anti reptile bans.

Sad reality but it's the truth

PETA and HSUS get their huge amounts of money from lying to people and taking donations under false pretenses. Instead of trying to match them dollar for dollar I feel we'd be better off exposing them for what they are to the masses of clueless donators.
