    Really, really basic question.

This is my snake. At that size, what should he be eating? Apparently this is a matter for great amounts of discussion and debate amongst the herp people in my real life, and honestly I just want to be able to feed him sometime in the next week. Also, if he skips a week because of settling into a new enclosure, he'll be fine - right? (Just reassure me on this one - I know the answer and am just neurotic).

Weaned or small rats...and it's no problem for him to skip a week. He's a beauty by the way...

Thanks! I am really, really pleased with him. I have no practical experience with snakes, but have been reading my behind off and am sure I'll be around reading more and picking brains.

His breeder apparently still had them on small mice and when I boggled the discussion just took off. Weaned or small rats it is, maybe with some mice scenting and teeth gritting from me.

He's gorgeous and looks about the size of my girl. If you are feeding often (every 5 days) I would do weaned rats (which is what I do with Matilda) or small rats if only once a week.

Awesome! Thanks a ton. I'm not actually doing a bloody thing with him right now or for the next week - and I need to get some covering on that tank's sides and back and maybe some kind of foliage for cover in there, but I think I've actually managed to get things set up right.

interestingly, I have YET to see him ball up at ALL, but I'm not going to push it.

I'm just updating this (mostly for myself).

Snake finally ate, tonight. Took slightly less than a month, but he also transferred from live to frozen/thawed. He's still acting hungry but whatever. I'll try again Friday and get a schedule going from there.

    Win.

I would say feed it a rat crawler. mine are about 360 grams and they get 2 crawlers a week right now.

Oh also I forgot, if he misses a week or so don't sweat it just keep offering every week.

What he actually ate was a weaned rat, and he did fine with it. Mostly, I'm just glad he ate.

I should probably get a scale at some point. I've no idea how much that guy (who is a girl and I keep calling he!) weighs.
