Using a UTH on a tub
Hi guys. I'm currently setting up a tub in preparation of moving my BP from his current tank enclosure (with all the associated struggles) to a tub where I think he will be happier. I'm going to try to get the UTH off the tank, but I have ordered a back up one just in case I wreck the one I'm using now.
I want to be able to stick the UTH to the tub without using the actual adhesive that's on the heater. I already have foil tape, which I plan on using to tape around the edges of the UTH to the tub, but is there anything I can stick to the adhesive part of it. I have read some posts where people suggest using the foil tape, but I'm worried about this messing up the way it transfers heat. Some people also suggest just leaving the peal away paper on the UTH. What would you guys suggest?

I would use the foil tape. Aluminum is great for transferring heat.

I am no expert, but i have a UTH on my tub, and from what ive seen, the adhesive doesnt stick to the textured plastic of the tub very well at all, so you shouldnt have a problem. But thats just my pad, it may also not have very good glue, i dunno.

x2 I use foil tape on mine and find it creates a larger hot spot as well. I also tape the UTH to the shelf and place the tub on top of it opposed to sticking it to the tub. It's easier cleaning this way as well.

Over the sticky side in foil tape........ wont cause any problems.
