ok no walmart around here at all man! my mom's heating pad has an auto off switch and i already have a reptile heating pad stuck under that tank anyway i think i am gonna leave it. the thermometer at k mart cost 30$ and on top of all this i can't go anywhere to get anything until they call about the thermometer at a local petstore who is getting a shipment of em sometime this week or next week. man i am angry and frustrated. my mom won't drive me anywhere until they call about the shipment and she said when they are in that is the only time she is driving me anywhere. for all i know that can be in another 2 weeks. and the thermometer isn't even on the walmart site so i can't get it off the internet. so basically i am screwed!    :x :bomb:

:( Poor Brian. I feel for ya man.

Where do you live? I still can't believe there's no Walmarts near you. It's like the biggest retail store I know, lol. We don't have one in our small town, but there is one in a town over. I just drive there when I need to go there. It's like a 15 minute drive, but its worth it. So there might not be one in your general area, but I'm sure there's one somewhere near you..maybe a short drive from you. I dunno. :( Only thing else I can figure is if you have a credit card or have ways of borrowing one, you can get the stuff you need for dirt cheap online. Of course there's shipping charges too, but I'd think you could still get it cheaper than in stores. Seems buying things online is usually cheaper.

Oh, and just for a heads up. If you're planning on getting thermometers from a petshop, they're probably analog. Those are usually wayyy off. Of course, if you don't have anything measuring temps right now, I guess analog stick ons are better than nothing. But yeah, they're usually off on the temps. That's why a lot of us are so adament in using digital thermometers.

I no it sucks, but I guess you'll learn for next time. It pays to research as much as possible before you get into snakes, or any new pet for that matter. Before I bought mine, I researched on a load of sites, mainly this one, for atleast 3 months, and bought all I needed ahead of time, so I'd be able to just get the snake and chill. :)

Wow, congrats on your mom being cool with herps. My mother is DEATHLY afraid of snakes, she refuses to come into my apartment unless the cages are locked and have big books on top of them. My dad's pretty cool with them so long as he's not asked to pick them up; he's more a lizard and croc guy anyway. :D
I waited almost 10 years to get my first snake, because my living situation wasn't stable enough to have one (I was moving around the world for school, and couldn't take the snakes on the plane with me). You're lucky that your mom is so supportive. :)
Is there a bus system you can take? I don't drive, I rely on buses and bikes, and it's not so hard if there's some kind of public transport around.

Actually Cody, when I lived in Brooklyn ... I never heard of Walmart ... we had Kmarts ... but no Walmarts near us.

As like UberAlice, I wasn't allowed to keep any sort of herps at all when living with my parents.

In New York, I rarely took the car anywhere ... the bus and subway were VERY close by, and in New York you can take the bus/trains all around the city ... oh how much I miss that. Personally I'm not a car/motorcycle person.

In Florida, theres no subways ... well only from West Palm to Miami.
I've seen bus stops, just haven't seen many buses =/ lol
